Self-Compassion

Teaching self-compassion is a bit of a paradox. In many ways it's already something we possess, but lack. In most cases, learning how to be more self-compassionate comes from learning to understand yourself and the obstacles you face. It's not surprising that this teaching and learning process is inherently linked to our compassion for others and for ourselves.

Self-compassion is self-kindness. It's a willingness to look at yourself objectively and acknowledge the good in yourself as well as the bad. It's about understanding that it's okay to have ups and downs in life and that it's normal to feel down sometimes. Self-compassion is different from self-esteem because it focuses on the positive side of our personality rather than the negative. Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself based on how much others like or appreciate you. Self-Compassion is about accepting things as they are and taking responsibility for your feelings and actions.

The key to becoming more self-compassionate is learning how to recognize and express your own emotions. By doing so, you can free yourself from other people's judgments. By being aware of your own thoughts, feelings, and actions, you can free yourself from the need to be perfect. When you feel good about yourself, you're more likely to take action to improve your situation.
